Rooms
Dorchester Hall features double, triple, and quadruple rooms. Most students live in double rooms. Rooms have tiled floors and white cinderblock walls. All rooms come equipped with closet space, a bed, a desk, and a dresser for each student. All rooms have a data jack with one telephone connection for the room and one high-speed internet connection for each student. Students are permitted to bring their own mini-fridge and television set, but hot plates and microwaves are not permitted. Carpet squares and bed lofts can be ordered through the Department of Resident Life.

Air-conditioning and Resident Computing
Dorchester Hall is one of the few residence halls on campus that is completely air-conditioned. Additionally, Dorchester Hall is completely wireless, allowing students to connect to the Internet outside of their rooms if they have a wireless-card for their laptop and have properly registered their computer with the University’s Office of Information Technology. Dorchester Hall has one desktop computer in the basement library for any student to use. For more information on resident computing, explore the Department of Resident Life computing webpage.
Study Lounges and Classroom
Dorchester Hall has 3 study lounges. There is one study lounge on the third floor, one study lounge on the first floor, and one large study lounge in the basement. The basement study lounge is often the location of program events like international movie nights. This space may be reserved by outside groups in certain circumstances. Please contact Kevin McClure for questions about reserving the basement. Many students also enjoy studying in our classroom (when it is not in use) and in the basement library. All Global Communities colloquia take place in our classroom.
Kitchen and Laundry Facilities
Although all residents of Dorchester Hall must purchase a meal plan, the building has a full kitchen. The kitchen is open to all students in the building and includes one stove, one oven, one refrigerator, one sink, and cabinet space. Students are expected to clean after they have used the kitchen. Dorchester Hall has its own laundry facilities in the basement, meaning students do not need travel outside the building to do laundry. Laundry machines are coin and card-operated. Students are able to put money on their University ID card and use it like a debit card to do laundry. The laundry machines are connected to an online system that allows students to check the status of their clothes and determine if there are machines available. Students must supply their own laundry detergent.
